silent thoughts
are the loudest things
scrawling and scratching
on cranium walls
they invade the brain
and jostle for space
clanking and clamouring
for a second glance
like skeleton armies
with a marching drum
their footsteps clod
and echo forever
they wage endless wars
for a little attention
flailing and fighting
cacophony rising
with endless effort
they keep on going
grunting and groaning
their constant blare
but outside the mind
not a peep escapes
as the clockwork rumbles
as the machines crank
of a silent thought
never to be heard
